About the Hendel House


Located at the southwest corner of Centre Avenue and Douglass Street, the Hendel House is in Reading's Centre Park Historic District.  One of Reading's first suburbs, Centre Park is comprised of 840 properties of Victorian and early 20th Century architecture.

Hendel House Mission

 

To preserve and maintain this elegant Victorian Turn-of-the-Century house.  Financial gifts for the rehabilitation of the House are encouraged by various events and individual contributions.  The goal of the Friends of the Hendel House is to interpret the history of the Hendel House with accuracy, integrity and liveliness.  In doing so, the Hendel House will have an important and eternal position in Berks County History.
